Back in the real world after spending a 4 day weekend in Provincetown (Cape Cod for the uninitiated). The company was excellent, and P'town is just as much fun as I remembered. Alas the weather was less than ideal, so we didn't get to spend much time hiking on the dunes and beaches.

I did support the local independent bookstore by buying books on New England history and legends. Also had a nice chat with a photographer at one of the galleries before buying a framed version of one of his photos. The next day I hiked out to where he said he'd taken the photo and found that I could indeed recognize the spot, but that he'd obviously taken it before the butt-ugly HOMELAND SECURITY IS HERE fence had been added to the Coast Guard office, blocking access to both the Coast Guard pier and that stretch of shoreline.

I note in passing that with the new purchase my windowless office will now have four framed prints/photographs of shore scenes. I wonder if my subconscious is trying to tell me something.

I had a laptop but spent very little time online, so have missed most of the news, and may or may not have a chance to catch up depending on how crazed today becomes. But at least I did have that break, even if it feels like weeks ago instead of just yesterday.

Alas I had to skip Balticon this year, so I'll just be hanging around here instead. Pirates 4 is likely on my agenda since I didn't see it last weekend.

Welcome back. Glad you had fun, but sorry the weather and Homeland Security didn't cooperate. Enjoy PIRATES 4. I may try to sneak a viewing into the weekend, but I suspect I'll be more likely to sneak in the rum. ;-)
